Won Hundred X Urban Outfitters Collaboration

March 23, 2010

Danish brand Won Hundred’ Creative Director Nikolaj Nielsen’s love for jeans has seen him heavily involved in a tight knit relationship with denim for nearly 20 years. From the shop floor to the factory floor Nikolaj has let denim guide him through life, the twists and turns of many a stitch and arcuate have certainly led him along the right road. Roles at Diesel to the Sixty Group ensured that the corporate world was well explored in advance of starting what is now the labor of love and life that is Won Hundred.

Nikolaj was approached by Urban Outfitters buying director Lee Grace to submit a jean both specific and exclusive to Urban Outfitters that would exemplify the philosophy and aesthetic of Won Hundred whilst incorporating the Urban Outfitters look and feel. “The jeans made for Urban was one model in 3 simple washes, it’s called ‘Dean’ and is the tightest of the 3 we have in our jeans range, made only for the Urban Outfitters customer”.

All styles in the U.O x W.H collaborative range are washes, making this different to the usual collaborative exercise in denim. Nikolaj was keen to provide a fresh styling ethos to the range that made it special for the U.O customer “black was used because it’s always something that we find clients really want specially in this kind of fit, the grey wash is made to look like your mom has used the wrong setting on the washing machine and the last Blue is the ‘fresh blue’ as we call it, the wash is so simple but that’s what makes it great”.
